Thomas Cubitt was a carpenter, builder and speculative developer, active, particularly in London and the south-east of England in the early- to mid-19th century.
He was born in Buxton, Norfolk, England on 25 February 1788, the eldest son of Jonathan Cubitt (born 1760, died 1807), a Norfolk carpenter, and his wife, Agnes Scarlett.
Cubitt died of throat cancer at his home, Denbies House, near Dorking in Surrey, England on 20 December 1855. He was was buried in his family tomb at Norwood cemetery, south London, England and was survived by his wife, Mary Anne Warner (died 1880), whom he had married in 1819, and five of their twelve children.
He was the elder brother of architect Lewis Cubitt (born 1799, died 1883) and William Cubitt (born 1791, died 1863) both of whom, in the early-19th century, he worked with in partnership.
